17th December 2009
Christmas salutations, friends! I hope your plans are going well, and you are getting into the seasonal spirit! It's definitely crept up on me this year, but that's because I've had such a blast seeing Javi Laparra putting his awesomely impressive painting talents to work on a bunch of my illustrations, which you can find here. I hope you enjoy them!
Work-wise, I'm just getting stuck into a new set of submission pages, with a werewolf theme. I'll post the pages once I get approval. Then, hopefully quite early in 2010 (wow, 2010), the US book I've been working on will be published!
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
17th August 2009
Summery(!) greetings, all! Things continue to tick along nicely here, despite the dreary weather. I've been very busy with work-related odds and ends, but have been filling the downtime with some fun little projects, namely my "Re:Visionings", which you can find here in my Portfolio section.
What are "Re:Visionings"? I hear you ask... well, in case people didn't believe me when I said I'm pretty good at mimicking other artists' work... I've done some! Like Frank Cho? Here you go. Like Kevin Maguire? Coming right up! David Finch? How's that? The pencilled versions are pretty much straight copies (NOT tracings, I hasten to add), but the inked versions are the Re:Visionings proper, as I've then used the pencils as a basis for a new or different character. So, Finch's Wolverine becomes The Raccoon, Cho's Ms.Marvel becomes Binary, and Maguire's Velocity becomes She-Hulk!
Now, here's the fun part! If you would like your OWN Re:Visioning, just pick your favourite artist (I won't give you a set list, but you can probably work out who would be appropriate choices), suggest a specific pic even, decide if you want a straight copy or let me know who you would like to see, and I will produce a Re:Visioning for you. I'll charge £15 per figure (pencils), £20 (inked) and work on A3 or similar size board. That's it! Just email me and we can discuss your requirements! They would make totally unique and much-prized gifts for the comic-art fan in your life (even if that happens to be you)!
NEW BRITISH COMICS #1 has received rave reviews all over the place, including at SFX, and you can find out more about it right here. With NBC #2 in production already, now's the time to jump on board this new sensation! If you buy a copy of #1, for which I provided cover pencils and inks, I'll sign it for you... hell, I might even throw in a sketch!
TEN DEAD MEN continues to make waves, and climbed its way to No.13 and No.17, respectively, on the ASDA and HMV dvd charts. Not bad for a little low-budget gangster flick, albeit one with a groovy free comic by yours truly! It's still available on Amazon, as well, where it was the No.1 import title earlier this year.

It's been all go here at Rees Towers! I've recently completed the first issue of an exciting series that will debut in the US in the next few months. I'll update you when I have a definite date.
Next up is NEW BRITISH COMICS #1, a brilliant anthology of tales by established and upcoming artists on the independent comic scene. It's all the more remarkable because it was masterminded and put together in Poland! Yours truly provided the cover pencils and inks.
And most excitingly, TEN DEAD MEN has now been released! The comic I co-produced for this movie is available as a groovy mini-comic (28pp) that comes FREE in the dvd package... and a very nice gift it is too!
Scripted by the movie's writer, CHRIS REGAN, with me on art duties, it's a prequel to the movie itself, filling in the dramatic and thrilling back-story of the film's hero, Ryan. Described on Amazon as "stunning", the comic tells you all you need to know about the violent and deceit-filled world of Ten Dead Men!

If you would like to commission your very own, unique and original piece of artwork, please get in touch. Whatever characters you desire, I can do...from classic Marvel/DC to your own heroes or villains. I can also do a mean interpretation of many popular artists' styles...just let me know who you favour. Prices are very reasonable, from £20/$40 per figure! Go on...treat yourself or a comic-loving friend!
31st March 2008
The Ten Dead Men comic is now available to anyone with a Wowio account. Check it out here!
26th March 2008
Well, it's been a busy few months! I've completed a number of strips and finally saw "Dark Horrors II" published, featuring "Any Cost For Life". I've contributed 8 pages to Tony Smith's "Queeroes" webcomic, which will debut on March 17th, and you can check it out here. "Infection" is published in May, as part of "Futurequake".
The biggest news, though, is that I've just completed the comic-book tie-in to new Brit-flick, "Ten Dead Men"! Subtitled "The Last Job", the story is a "Sin City" inspired tale of gangs, love, assassination and revenge! The film is released later this year and you can find out much more here. Check out my portfolio section to see some preview pages!
12th November 2007
I've been making some fresh contacts recently, and hope to have a couple of projects coming out in upcoming months. First up, I'm working on a short story for the 2000AD influenced small-press title, "Futurequake", which is an alien invasion tale by Kevin McHugh. Secondly, I'm preparing for a stint on another title in the US, which will be in full colour! I don't want to say anymore right now, but it's a really interesting series. Can't wait!

The Birmingham convention proved to be a really useful and interesting experience. Apart from meeting some great people, "Hi Richy, Dave and Stephen!", Michael Wright of DC Comics, Garry (Miracleman) Leach and David (Brodie's Law) Bircham were all extremely positive about my work, which was cool, and also gave me some excellent advice about moving things forward. All of which I shall be absorbing and making use of! I'm currently working on some new sample pages, including Judge Dredd, and have pitched some work to a new company with Martin Fisher, which I will tell you more about, should it get picked up.
11th October 2007
This weekend I'll be taking part in the live portfolio event at the International Comics Show in Birmingham, UK. It promises to be a very interesting experience, and the whole weekend should be lots of fun! I really hope to meet some of the participating professionals, including Kevin Nowlan, Alan Davis and Mike Mignola... and picking up as many tips as possible! Good luck to all the attendees, see you there!

You can now view my "Transformers:Mosaic" artwork here, in both groovy black and white or glorious technicolour, courtesy of Kris Carter.
6th September 2007
Just seen the ad on ComicBookResources.com for Comic Book Idol 3, which sounds like a great opportunity... and an intriguing challenge... I'm going to give it a shot. I'll keep you guys posted!
Next up will be a 1-page Doctor Who strip, written by Martin Fisher. It's a really clever tale of Sarah Jane Smith, based on her latest appearance in series 2.
After that, I'll be plunging into a brand new Marvel submission, aimed at the ChesterQuest talent search... can't wait to get started on this!
20th August 2007
How cool is this? "Any Cost For Life" has been accepted by Arcana for "Dark Horrors II". It's one of just 20 successful entries, out of I don't know how many! Thanks to Martin for a great script that really gave me something to get my teeth into.
Speaking of which, I'm also going to be providing line-art for a 1-page "Transformers:Mosaic" strip from Martin, which IDW will hopefully pick up for the regular comic. Things are really moving at the moment!
28th July 2007
Phew! I've now completed "Any Cost For Life", for Arcana's "Dark Horrors II" anthology. Just made the deadline, too! Check out the artwork here in the Portfolio section.
12th June 2007
Just thought I'd say "Hi!" to any new visitors... hope you like what you see! I've been dipping into Digital Webbing recently, and have made a couple of interesting new contacts, including Martin Fisher, a writer with lots of cool ideas, chief of which is a great script for Arcana Comics' annual "Dark Horrors" anthology. He is really into my work and has presented me with a killer 6-page story, "Any Cost For Life". Completed pages will be posted here when they are ready!
